Directions from Highway 280 (click here for a map that might help): 

  • Going North on 280, exit on Hwy 1 towards Pacifica, about 1 1/2 mile after crossing the 380;
  • Stay in the right hand lane, and exit on Hwy 35 (Skyline Blvd) North;
  • Continue on Hwy 35 until you come out of the clouds, pass the Olympic Club and see Lake Merced on your right hand side.  Get into the left lane;
  • Take a left onto the Great Highway and continue northbound.  The ocean will be on your left hand side (this is how you know you are traveling north);  
  • After going through the traffic light gauntlet (hint:  these lights are synchronized at 35 mph: if you go exactly 35 mph, you will hit every green) and passing Golden Gate Park and the Beach Chalet, get into the right lane; 
  • Turn right on Balboa (just below the Cliff House restaurant);  
  • Turn left on 44th Ave.  The house will be on your right hand side, ¼ mile up.   Park anywhere. 
     

Directions from Paris, France: 

  • Take bus to Charles DeGaulle airport
  • Get on any flight to San Francisco
  • As you exit airport, follow signs to Highway 280
  • Continue with above instructions 

Lodging:

There are a few places to stay in San Francisco.  Of course, you're always welcome to pass out on the couch, spare bed, or even the lawn; but it may get chilly.  Here's some places that are close by that I've at least seen the outside of:

  • Seal Rock Inn (0.3 miles)

  • Oceanview Motel (1.1 miles)
